49ers Successfully Extend Eddy Piñeiro for Four Years Through 2030 With an Impressive Deal

Posted Mar 9, 2026

SANTA CLARA, California – The San Francisco 49ers have taken an important step to ensure stability at the kicker position for years to come. Just days before the free agency market officially opens, the team reached a four-year extension agreement with Eddy Piñeiro, keeping him in San Francisco through the 2030 season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Piñeiro signed a four-year contract extension worth $17 million, including $10 million guaranteed. The deal was completed just before the player was set to enter free agency, helping the 49ers avoid the risk of losing one of their most reliable kicking specialists.

This extension reflects the strong trust the team’s leadership has in Piñeiro. Over the past season, he became one of the most dependable pieces of the 49ers’ special teams unit, especially in games that were tight and ultimately decided by key scoring opportunities.

Why 49ers kicker Eddy Piñeiro gave up pro soccer dream to pursue NFL career

From a statistical standpoint, Piñeiro had an extremely efficient season. He converted 31 of 34 field-goal attempts, finishing with a 91% accuracy rate, a number that ranks among the best in the league. In addition, he was nearly perfect on extra points, making 39 of 40 attempts.

Beyond accuracy, Piñeiro also demonstrated the ability to score from long distance. He successfully made multiple kicks from beyond 50 yards, helping the 49ers maintain their edge in closely contested games. His consistency gave the coaching staff greater confidence whenever the offense entered scoring range.

Extending Piñeiro also carries strategic significance for the 49ers. The team not only avoids the risk of losing him on the open market but also secures long-term stability at the kicker position – a factor that can often determine the outcome of tense playoff games.

In the NFL, teams with championship aspirations understand the value of having a dependable kicker. By locking Eddy Piñeiro into a contract through 2030, the 49ers are betting that his consistency and composure will continue to serve as a quiet competitive advantage as the franchise pushes toward future success.

49ers Icon George Kittle Breaks His Silence Amid Retirement Rumors, Confirms Early 2026 Return — The Reason Behind It Has Faithful Exploding
SANTA CLARA, California — As the 2025 season ended in disappointment and George Kittle watched from the sideline with a torn Achilles, retirement rumors began to spread. At 32 years old and entering his 10th NFL season, many wondered if this was the final chapter of a 49ers icon. But Kittle didn’t let the silence linger. In his latest appearance on a national podcast, he directly addressed the question the entire NFL has been buzzing about. And his answer didn’t just shut down speculation — it reignited the entire Faithful fanbase. “I love football, and my body will tell me when I can't play anymore. Or my wife will tell me I look like shit, one or the other.” 🤣🤣🤣@gkittle46 on if he considered retirement after his achilles tear: pic.twitter.com/92Zeyrpm8N — Ross Tucker Podcast (@RossTuckerPod) February 24, 2026 “I haven’t finished my mission at Levi’s Stadium. I still want to fight, to give everything I have, to bring glory back to the Faithful. The 49ers aren’t just the team I wear — this is family, this is red and gold running through my veins.” - Kittle Shared. That statement quickly spread across social media, igniting a powerful wave of excitement. With seven Pro Bowl selections and four 1,000-yard seasons, Kittle isn’t just an elite tight end — he’s the emotional heartbeat of the locker room and a relentless spark on every snap. The reason behind his confidence soon became clearer. Kittle’s surgery was performed by renowned orthopedic specialist Neal ElAttrache, who reportedly described the tear as “clean” and located in a position favorable for recovery. That diagnosis opened the door for an earlier return rather than a midseason comeback. Inside the 49ers organization, optimism remains cautious but real. While the medical staff has not set a firm timeline, sources believe Kittle could return at the start of the 2026 season if rehab continues progressing smoothly. For a player known for elite conditioning and disciplined preparation, that scenario is far from unrealistic. More importantly, Kittle’s competitive fire remains untouched. He doesn’t see a finish line — he sees unfinished business. And when an icon like Kittle publicly commits to returning, it’s more than encouraging news for San Francisco. It’s a reminder that the Faithful still have every reason to believe.
