Immediately after the results were announced, Maye's wife, Ann Michael Maye, voiced strong criticism toward the Associated Press for not recognizing her husband's outstanding achievements. She stated that this was the season where Drake completely deserved the MVP award, regardless of the final outcome.
Ann Michael criticized the recent controversies surrounding a leaked Snapchat message, which led to unfounded accusations that Maye was "cheating." She explained that these rumors were entirely false and distorted, negatively affecting her husband's image and reducing his chances of winning the MVP.

"We cannot accept that personal matters are dragged into the public eye, tarnishing Drake's image just because he's a star," Ann Michael shared on social media. She believes these rumors diminished Maye's vote share and prevented him from winning MVP, even though his season was entirely deserving of the award.
Ann Michael also continued to criticize the AP for being unfair in handling the situation. She insisted that if it weren't for these scandals, the result might have been different. She argued that Maye was unfairly judged because of misleading information and a lack of objectivity in the media regarding his achievements.
"This is injustice. He had an amazing season, leading in completion percentage, but was underrated just because of false rumors. That is not a fair way to evaluate a player, and he does not deserve to be treated like this," Ann Maye expressed with frustration.
Although Maye did not win MVP, he remains a key player and is preparing for the most important game of his career. He stated that he would not let these rumors affect his goal of winning Super Bowl LX with the New England Patriots. “We will not let these rumors cloud our objective,” Maye said.
With strong support from his family and team, Drake Maye continues to pursue the Lombardi Trophy, aiming for a greater goal than all the off-field controversies.
