CeeDee Lamb crushes the Packers' hopes of acquiring the Cowboys' Pro Bowl WR with a 5-word message in a trade proposal for Matthew Golden.
February 5, 2026 – Green Bay, Wisconsin
In a stunning move that has set the NFL world abuzz, Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys is reportedly making a concerted effort to recruit wide receiver George Pickens to the Green Bay Packers. Parsons has been vocal in trying to lure the talented wideout to Green Bay, but his actions have immediately sparked a fierce response from members of the Cowboys' locker room.
The proposed trade would send Green Bay’s first-round pick from the 2025 draft, Matthew Golden, to the Cowboys in exchange for Pickens, a proven playmaker and a breakout star in 2025. Golden, who was drafted 23rd overall by the Packers, has struggled to make an impact in his rookie season, posting just 29 receptions for 361 yards and no touchdowns in the regular season. Golden, however, remains a high-potential asset with a blazing 4.29 40-yard dash time.
Pickens, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 season, is a key player in the trade discussions. The 24-year-old receiver had a breakout season with the Cowboys, recording 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns. Although Dallas has the option to franchise tag Pickens for the 2026 season at a fully guaranteed $28.037 million, the team is currently $28.9 million over the cap, leading some to believe a trade could be in the works before free agency begins on March 11, 2026.

The Packers, with approximately $45 million in cap space, are in a strong position to absorb Pickens' potential franchise tag or negotiate an extension. Golden, while a talented young player, has shown limited production thus far, making him a suitable trade piece. The addition of Pickens would provide Jordan Love with a proven WR1, addressing a need for explosive playmaking in Green Bay's offense.
The trade package that is being considered includes Golden along with a 2026 second-round pick (projected to fall between picks 45-60) and a 2027 fourth-round pick. In exchange, the Cowboys would receive these assets without needing to send any picks back, as Pickens' value is considerably higher due to his elite status. The trade would provide Dallas with draft capital to rebuild their roster while giving them a young, affordable option in Golden.
Despite the trade rumors, CeeDee Lamb, who has developed a close bond with Pickens, was quick to voice his frustration. Lamb, upset over Parsons’ attempts to recruit his teammate, made it clear with a sharp remark: "They’re not getting him." His comments underscored the emotional investment Lamb has in Pickens, and his displeasure with the situation added fuel to the speculation surrounding Pickens’ future with the Cowboys.
As the trade talks intensify, both teams are positioned for significant changes. The Packers are eager to add a dynamic playmaker to their offense, while the Cowboys are facing tough decisions regarding their salary cap and future roster moves. With Pickens' potential and Golden's upside, this trade could be a game-changer for both franchises, potentially reshaping the balance of power in the NFC.
