Former Giants Head Coach, a Five-Time Super Bowl Champion, Expresses Desire to Join the Steelers as Offensive Coordinator After His Firing — A Move GM Omar Khan Calls “A Mistake the Giants Won’t Be Able to Fix”
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – 11/11/2025
Just days after being dismissed by the New York Giants, Brian Daboll — the brilliant coach who owns five Super Bowl rings — has broken his silence. In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Daboll revealed his desire to join the Pittsburgh Steelers as their offensive coordinator, emphasizing that his passion for football remains as strong as ever and that he “still has plenty left to give.”

“I’ve always admired the way the Steelers build their team — through discipline, pride, and loyalty,” Daboll said. “I’m not chasing a title. I just want to coach, to help a team get better every single day. If I have the chance to help the Steelers rediscover the offensive identity they once had, I’m ready to start from scratch.”
Following Daboll’s statement, Steelers General Manager Omar Khan offered high praise for the former Giants coach — while subtly suggesting that New York made a monumental error in letting him go.
“I’ve followed Brian Daboll for years,” Khan said. “He’s not just a great play-caller — he’s a motivator, a leader. He knows how to make players believe in themselves and turn ordinary guys into difference-makers. When a team parts ways with someone like that, they don’t just lose a coach — they lose their vision. Honestly, the Giants have made a mistake they won’t be able to fix.”
Daboll’s coaching brilliance was on full display in Buffalo, where he helped mold Josh Allen into an MVP-caliber quarterback before earning NFL Coach of the Year honors with the Giants in 2022. But after a 2–8 start this season, New York’s front office lost patience and pulled the trigger.
Now, as the Steelers look to retool their offense under pressure, Omar Khan’s interest in a proven innovator like Daboll could signal a turning point for the entire organization.
If this partnership comes to life, Pittsburgh could soon reclaim the offensive firepower that once struck fear across the league — while the Giants may be left regretting the day they let go of a true football genius.
