Heartwarming: Shahid Khan and the Jaguars Receive Praise for Heartfelt 105th Birthday Gift to 30-Year Fan - WWII Veteran
Jacksonville, Florida – January 21, 2026
The Jacksonville Jaguars are receiving widespread praise from NFL fans after a heartwarming gesture to honor one of their longest-serving supporters, Louis Tanzer, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, on his 105th birthday. Tanzer, a lifelong Jaguars fan for over 30 years, was surprised with a customized jersey, a signed card from the entire team, and a special video call from team owner Shahid Khan.
Tanzer, who has supported the Jaguars through thick and thin, was deeply touched by the gifts. The oversized birthday card, signed by Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, Hall of Famer Tony Boselli, and the entire roster, was a total surprise to him. “This was the most meaningful gift I’ve ever received,” Tanzer said, clearly moved by the gesture. “I never imagined receiving something like this, especially from my beloved Jaguars. I’ve supported them for so many years, and this just means the world to me.”

But the surprises didn’t end there. After Tanzer’s birthday party on December 26, he received a heartfelt video call from Shahid Khan. During the call, Khan expressed his admiration for Tanzer’s service during WWII and his dedication to the Jaguars. “I want you to know you're my hero,” Khan said. “When I heard your story and how courageous you were, and then I found out you’re a Jaguars fan, it made this all the more special.”

The connection between Khan and Tanzer was immediate, as they discovered their shared love for the Jaguars and their mutual passion for the team. Khan went on to give Tanzer another memorable gift: a customized Jaguars jersey with the number 105 and his last name on it. Tanzer was thrilled by the gift and proudly displayed it. His daughter, Gail, shared, “He’s enjoying it tremendously. He’s so proud of the team, and even though the season didn’t go as planned, he’s still cheering them on with all his heart.”
Khan also shared his hopes for the team’s future, expressing his desire to see the Jaguars rise to new heights next season. “It’s an honor to know you, and I’m proud of you,” Khan told Tanzer. “We may not have made it to the Super Bowl this time, but we’re committed to making this team better, and I promise we’ll continue working toward a championship.”
Tanzer’s reaction and the heartfelt gifts from the Jaguars have touched many fans, who have applauded Khan and the team for their thoughtfulness and respect for their supporters, especially those who have stood by them for decades. The Jaguars' gesture serves as a reminder of the deep bonds that exist between the team and its loyal fans, particularly those who have supported them through thick and thin.
