Just 12 Hours After Brandon Cisse’s Emotional Message, Packers Legendary CB Charles Woodson Sends an Extremely Cold Message to the Green Bay Rookie

Posted Apr 26, 2026

Green Bay, Wisconsin — Just a few hours after the Green Bay Packers selected Brandon Cisse in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, legendary cornerback Charles Woodson sent an extremely strong and inspiring message to the rookie cornerback.

Woodson, who was once the symbol of the Packers’ defense, did not hesitate to ignite the fire for the next generation.

On his personal social media page, Woodson publicly posted a video segment, in which he looked straight into the camera and delivered a message to Cisse:

“Brandon, welcome to Green Bay. You just put on the green and gold. This is not a place to dream, this is a place to prove. I was once doubted too, once told I was too small and not fast enough. But I used those very words of doubt as fuel to play. Now it’s your turn. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t belong here. Turn every doubt into strength.”

Woodson, the legendary cornerback of the Packers, is one of the greatest defensive backs in NFL history.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl 9 times, earned All-Pro honors 4 times, won Defensive Player of the Year in 2009, and was a key member in helping the Packers win Super Bowl XLV. With 9 interceptions leading the NFL in 2009, Woodson left an indelible mark in Packers history.

For Cisse, who was once undervalued in college with doubts about his size and speed, Woodson’s message carries particularly deep meaning.

The 22-year-old rookie has gone through a challenging journey, from nearly being cut at NC State to breaking out at South Carolina with 65 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 11 pass deflections throughout his college career.

Woodson then ended the message with a cold but responsible and strict reminder:

“Lambeau Field does not forgive weakness. Green Bay has given you an opportunity – don’t waste it.”

Woodson’s appearance in the role of advisor and mentor for the new defensive rookies has received great acclaim from Packers fans.

This is not just a moment of transition between two generations, but also living proof of the “Titletown” spirit – where legacy is always preserved and passed on to the next successors.

With Jordan Love leading the offense and Charles Woodson igniting the defense, the Packers are building an ambitious roster for the 2026 season.

Former Player Once Seen As A “Blockbuster Signing” For The Green Bay Packers Dies In Tragic Accident At Age 30, Leaving Packers Community In Mourning
The Green Bay community has been left in deep sorrow after a once-promising name passed away unexpectedly under heartbreaking circumstances late this past weekend. His passing is not only a personal loss but also a devastating moment for those who followed his relentless journey through professional football and beyond. In the eyes of many, he represented second chances, a player who never stopped fighting to keep his dream of football alive. Chris Payton-Jones has been confirmed to have passed away following a severe car accident that occurred late Saturday night in Florida. Authorities reported the crash happened around 11:45 PM along a major roadway near Gainesville, involving a direct and violent head-on collision. The sedan he was driving collided with a pickup truck in what officials described as a highly dangerous and sudden impact situation. Moments after the collision, his vehicle caught fire rapidly, leaving him trapped inside without any chance of escape. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but the fire had already spread beyond control within minutes. He was pronounced dead at the scene, unable to be rescued despite immediate response efforts from first responders. Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck and two passengers suffered only minor injuries and are currently in stable condition. Before the tragedy, he had just closed the chapter on his professional playing career after officially retiring in January of 2026. His journey stretched across multiple leagues, including time in the NFL, XFL, and later the UFL, always pushing for another opportunity. He suited up for the Seattle Sea Dragons in 2023 before continuing with the St. Louis Battlehawks during the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Selected in the 2024 dispersal draft, he remained viewed as a valuable piece capable of contributing with the right opportunity. While his résumé did not include major accolades, he was respected for his physical tools, speed, and ability to adapt within different systems. Scouts once believed he had the potential to become a versatile defensive contributor if given long-term stability within a franchise. He always said that if there was one team in the NFL he truly dreamed of playing for, it was the Packers because that was the place he believed he could become the player he was meant to be. There is another side to his story, one closely tied to an opportunity that once connected him directly to the Green Bay Packers. He had been selected by the organization with high expectations, even viewed internally as a potential surprise addition to the roster. However, that dream came to an abrupt end when he failed his medical evaluation, a turning point that ultimately reshaped his entire career path. His passing at age 30 leaves behind a story filled with effort, resilience, and a journey that never quite received the opportunity it deserved.
