Landon Dickerson Makes Final Decision on Retirement After Injury-Plagued 2025 Season
PHILADELPHIA — After weeks of uncertainty and quiet reflection, Landon Dickerson has officially made his decision about the future of his NFL career. The Philadelphia Eagles guard, who endured a grueling 2025 season filled with injuries, has put an end to speculation surrounding a possible retirement.
The 2025 campaign tested Dickerson physically in ways few seasons have. He battled persistent back and ankle injuries throughout the year and even underwent knee surgery during training camp. Despite the setbacks, he still managed to appear in 15 games — a testament to his toughness, but also a reminder of the physical toll the game continues to take.
Dickerson’s injury history isn’t new. In college, he tore both ACLs, and ankle issues have followed him since. Add in the knee and back concerns from last season, and the idea of stepping away at age 27 didn’t seem far-fetched. For a player who has absorbed constant punishment in the trenches, long-term health became a legitimate consideration.

Midway through the week, however, Dickerson delivered his answer: he will return to play for the Eagles in 2026.
The announcement came via social media, where he posted photos of himself in an Eagles uniform, accompanied by eagle emojis — a simple but powerful signal that he’s not ready to walk away.
Since entering the league, Dickerson has started 77 of 78 career games. From 2022 through 2024, he earned Pro Bowl honors in three consecutive seasons, establishing himself as one of the league’s most reliable interior linemen. While injuries limited him in 2025 and kept him from another Pro Bowl nod, his impact on the Eagles’ offensive line remained significant.
His return comes at a critical time for Philadelphia. The team recently moved on from longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, and maintaining stability up front will be essential heading into 2026. Having a veteran presence like Dickerson helps preserve continuity in a unit that has long been one of the team’s strengths.
Dickerson remains under a four-year, $84 million contract that runs through the 2028 season. But this decision appears to be about more than finances. It’s about unfinished business, loyalty to a locker room, and belief in what the Eagles can still accomplish.
After a season defined by pain and perseverance, Landon Dickerson has chosen to keep fighting. And for Philadelphia, that may be one of the most important offseason decisions of all.
