Steve Largent — the iconic Seahawks legend and Hall of Fame member — publicly stepped forward to defend the young player carrying heavy expectations within the organization. For Largent, the issue goes far beyond a few missed plays or maliciously edited clips. It reflects a familiar story in the modern NFL, where social media magnifies every mistake and ignores the true context of a game decided snap by snap.
“He’s carrying pressures that no one can truly imagine,” Largent shared. “Playing for the Seahawks in front of tens of thousands in the stadium and millions watching, every step is scrutinized. But this is a young player learning how to stand his ground in the NFL — and he needs more belief and time, not ridicule.” According to Largent, focusing only on negative moments is the fastest way to erase the bigger picture of long-term development.
The win over the Colts, while far from perfect, still highlighted Seattle’s collective toughness. The defense held firm in critical moments, and the team protected a narrow lead until the final whistle. Yet within that context, Anthony once again became a target for frustration from a segment of the fan base — something Largent believes is deeply unfair.
Largent emphasized that the NFL is not a place for peaceful growth. “No one enters this league without stumbling,” he said. “What matters is how he gets back up, learns, and keeps fighting for his teammates.” With backing from a legend, the message is unmistakable: the Seahawks win together — and they must also protect one another when adversity strikes.
