Philadelphia Eagles Move Closer Than Ever to Blockbuster Super Bowl Seahawks Star Deal After He Leaves Door Open to Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — The Eagles are reportedly closer than ever to a blockbuster move as Riq Woolen has unexpectedly emerged as a priority target. After helping the Seattle Seahawks make a deep Super Bowl run, the 26-year-old cornerback is heating up the free agency market by the day.
Philadelphia already boasts an elite All-Pro duo in Cooper DeJean at nickel and Quinyon Mitchell on the outside. But analysts believe that if the Eagles add one more high-level boundary corner, they won’t just improve — they could create the most feared defensive back room in the league.

According to Christian D’Andrea of USA Today, Woolen is the perfect fit. He possesses elite length, top-tier speed, and rare physical traits at the cornerback position. More importantly, he aligns seamlessly with Philadelphia’s philosophy of building a young, fast, high-energy defense.
What makes this development even more intriguing is that Woolen himself has seemingly left the door open to joining the Eagles. In a recent interview, he openly praised Philadelphia’s scheme and winning culture.
“I’ve watched the way they play for years, and you can feel their identity on the field,” Woolen shared. “Their defensive philosophy is modern, disciplined, and relentless. Philadelphia is a place any defensive player would want to test himself and compete at the highest level.”
Woolen’s résumé speaks for itself. A former Pro Bowler, he has recorded 12 interceptions over four seasons, held opposing quarterbacks to a 54.2% completion rate, and has never allowed a passer rating above 80.0 over a full season in Seattle. He also played a major role in helping the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl.
If general manager Howie Roseman completes this move, the Eagles could field a nearly flawless corner trio: Mitchell, DeJean, and Woolen. A defensive back group capable of locking down any modern passing attack.
In today’s pass-heavy NFL, building a dominant DB room may be the key to sustained success. And if Woolen ultimately wears midnight green, Philadelphia may not only possess the league’s best secondary next season — but potentially one of the most formidable defensive back units in NFL history.
