Slater bounced around the MLB over the past couple of seasons, playing for five different organizations during this period. “The Yankees have made a one year, $1M offer to Austin Slater according to Jon Heyman,” Everything Yankees posted on X. Slater signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Chicago White Sox ahead of the 2025 campaign. They traded him to the Yankees at the deadline after getting 11 home runs with a 100 OPS+ for the team in 51 games. However, Slater made little impression in New York, going 3-25 in his 14 appearances for the team, so it’s rather surprising they want a reunion with him. The 22-year-old lost his spot in the lineup last year as Trent Grisham delivered a stellar campaign to seal his berth on the team. So, the Yankees may decide to use their former top prospect as a trade chip this offseason to fill other needs on their roster. “It’s not exactly up to the Yankees to worry about Domínguez’s future. If they see him as a valuable bench player, or if they want him as injury insurance, that’s their prerogative. But at this point in his career, the former top prospect likely would be better served by playing every day in the majors,” Kuty wrote. That was the Yankees’ plan for him last year until Grisham proved he could be an everyday threat at the plate, eating into Dominguez’s playing time. Would another team consider now the right time to “buy” on Domínguez in exchange for help the Yankees may need elsewhere?” Kuty wrote. In spite of making his MLB debut in 2023, Dominguez only exceeded rookie status last year, as huge injuries hampered his development in the MLB. He played 20 games in a season for only the first time in 2025. Dominguez hit .257/.331/.388 in his first full season for the Yankees with 10 home runs, 23 stolen bases, and a 101 OPS+.
