The NFL shuts down the Bears’ “bias” accusations and warns Chicago after their loss to the Packers
NFL REJECTS "CHEATING" CLAIMS FROM BEARS AFTER PACKERS LOSS – AND ISSUES OFFICIAL WARNING TO CHICAGO
New York – The controversies that erupted after the Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 28–21 at Lambeau Field are still far from settling down, but the NFL has spoken up to extinguish all doubts. On Monday, the league officially rejected all allegations of referee bias and accused the Bears of making statements that are “inappropriate and damaging to the integrity of the league.”
The incident began when multiple Bears members – from players to the coaching staff – claimed that the referees missed key Packers infractions, including holding and illegal block in critical late-game situations. The Chicago side declared that these errors “changed the outcome of the game.” But the NFL reacted immediately: after reviewing all multi-angle footage, the league affirmed that the allegations are “baseless and unsupported by any evidence.”
In a strong statement, NFL Vice President Troy Vincent emphasized: “Through a comprehensive review of every controversial situation, we found no evidence whatsoever of bias or unfairness. Such blanket accusations can harm the image of the entire league. We expect every team to maintain standards when commenting on officiating.”
According to league sources, some Bears members – including players and coaching staff personnel – are being privately reminded by the NFL about speech regulations when discussing referees. Although no penalties have been issued yet, the NFL confirmed it will “closely monitor” subsequent statements. The words from Caleb Williams (“tough to swallow”) and the suggestion from head coach Ben Johnson that his team “was fighting more than one opponent” are said to be the triggers that prompted the NFL's immediate intervention.
The Bears – now slipping to 9–5 with two straight losses – showed frustration after the game, but to date have not retracted any statements. The team only declared “wanting to move forward” to avoid escalating into a larger conflict with the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Packers reclaimed the top spot in the NFC North with a 10–3–1 record and maintained silence amid the public storm. The team only sent a brief message: “We’re focused on football.”
The NFL concluded that while referee errors are unavoidable, attributing bias or cheating crosses the line. The league's message is crystal clear: the Bears have been put in the spotlight – and any next misstep will come at a cost.
